Seer is overcoming the challenges of accessibility to gold-standard healthcare. Through home-based monitoring, patients no longer need to rely on availability of hospital beds. Relieving healthcare bottlenecks in times of need

Home-based testing spared 24,963 inpatient hospital days in 2020

In a hospital, every minute counts. When it comes to hospital beds, every bed that can be spared to someone who really needs it can be a matter of life or death. This was especially evident when it came to the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia. Epilepsy monitoring units were closed nation-wide in order to save beds for those who would require critical care.

People on waitlists for inpatient monitoring were delayed further in their diagnostic journeys. Seer offered the healthcare community an opportunity to ensure people were not delaying diagnosis and treatment.

Seer delivered 24,963 at-home monitoring days in 2020, maximising hospital capacity and saving the health system $49 million in 2020 alone.

Massive leaps in patient experience

Healthcare is an experience, and we’ve put people at the centre of ours.  

People have to sacrifice the things we generally take for granted when they are admitted for hospital-based seizure investigation — the ability to shower, freedom to leave their beds, access to support from family, friends, or pets — and often feel the painful aftermath of having abrasive glues on their scalp for a week. They experience their care as patients, not as people.

We’ve invested heavily into R&D that transforms the experience of long-term monitoring from physically and emotionally taxing to comfortable, supportive, and empowering.

Simple pleasures — like being able to momentarily disconnect from medical equipment to take a shower — are now possible. Recording devices are lightweight and don’t need to be recharged. Scalp irritation is largely avoided with revolutionary hypoallergenic gel adhesive that can be washed out easily at the end of the study.

1,070,712 hours* of clinical data analysed, forming the world’s largest library of epilepsy data

This data is used to train Seer Assist, our proven event-labelling algorithm that has been the key to delivering long-term monitoring at scale. Seer Assist has scanned hundreds of thousands of hours of clinical data, using input from human experts to learn and identify key events for diagnostic review. This technology saves neurophysiologists countless hours of data review time.
