Seer has been awarded an $800K grant by MTP Connect for the development of a long term, cloud-enabled cardiac monitor. This grant comes as a result of the Australian Government’s $45 million BioMedTech Horizons program (BMTH) and more specifically the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) initiative. This initiative aims to support innovative collaborative health technologies, drive discoveries towards proof-of-concept and commercialisation that address key health challenges as well as maximise entrepreneurship and idea potential.
The BMTH program and MRFF initiative offers Seer the opportunity to explore ways to extend its video-EEG-ECG monitoring technology for applications in cardiac monitoring.
The opportunity was identified alongside a gap in the market related to 24/48 hour holter monitors and implantable loop recorders. Short-term cardiac monitors often do not utilise modern technologies, inadvertently delaying diagnosis, while long-term monitors, such as loop recorders, are costly, invasive, and absorb hospital resources.
The Sense Cardiac monitoring wearable will offer a new level of sophistication to at-home cardiac monitoring—delivering a step-change in patient comfort and freedom while empowering doctors with the data they need to make a conclusive diagnosis.
We look forward to sharing updates on the progress of this work.
