Best in class: Seer named as finalist in UCSF Digital Health Awards

Seer has been named a Finalist in the prestigious 2022 UCSF Digital Health awards. The awards celebrate the work of companies addressing the biggest and most pressing healthcare challenges through innovative products and technologies that unlock change at scale.

Selected as one of four ‘Best in Class’ finalists in the Remote Diagnostic Tool or Device category, Seer was acknowledged by judges for its delivery of a leading remote solution helping healthcare providers monitor their patients outside of clinical settings, reach diagnostic outcomes and improve quality of life for patients.

Finalists were selected by an expert team of judges across healthcare and VC. Chairman of the UCSF Health Hub and General Partner at Builders VC, Mark H. Goldstein said 2022 was particularly competitive: “These finalists are truly the best of the best and are changing the face of healthcare,” he said.

Dr Dean Freestone, CEO & Co-Founder of Seer explains how Seer is transforming long-term monitoring for epilepsy:

“Countless tests are traditionally done in hospitals because of technology limitations, rather than people needing hospitalisation. Seer’s world-first technology allows patients to undergo long-term brain and heart monitoring from the comfort of their home.”

“Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological conditions, affecting more than 3.4 million Americans and more than 65 million people worldwide. 10% of the population will experience a seizure at some point in their life – often requiring multi-day monitoring to uncover answers. By shifting clinical monitoring from the hospital to the home, Seer addresses a large unmet need for accurate, objective data, with a far superior patient experience,” he said.

“Seer offers a new pathway to diagnosis for Americans with epilepsy – one that does not require a hospital stay and one that gives doctors the data they need to more accurately diagnose epilepsy and episodic disorders.”
