Currently Chair of Medicine at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Prof Mark Cook specialises in the treatment of epilepsy. He is recognised internationally for his expertise in epilepsy management, particularly imaging, and surgical planning.

Full biography

Dr Gabriel Dabscheck works at The Royal Children’s Hospital in the Neurology department. He sees patients in the Epilepsy Clinic and is part of the EEG service. Dr Dabscheck is also the lead of the multidisciplinary Neurofibromatosis Program, runs the Neuro-Oncology Clinic, and performs ward service for the Neurology Department. He also has a small private practice.

Dr Remi Kowalski is a Paediatric Cardiologist with sub-speciality interests in imaging and cardiac MRI. He has been employed as a consultant cardiologist at The Royal Children’s Hospital since 2011 and consults in all aspects of Paediatric Cardiology.

Dr Patrick Carney practises in the fields of general neurology, epilepsy, and neurological sleep disorders. He is the Deputy Director of Neurology at Eastern Health.

A/Prof Geoffrey Herkes is a senior staff specialist in Neurology at Royal North Shore Hospital Sydney and Director of Research and Head of Medicine at the Sydney Adventist Hospital. He trained in neurophysiology at the Mayo Clinic in the United States and has a lifelong interest in EEG and epilepsy.

Dr John Lawson is a paediatric neurologist at Sydney Children’s Hospital and Randwick and Associate Senior Lecturer at the University of NSW. His clinical and research focus is on childhood epilepsy; including neuroimaging, social, and psychological effects.

Dr Emma Macdonald-Laurs is a paediatric neurologist and epileptologist. She works at the Royal Children’s Hospital and has a special interest in epilepsy surgery and neonatal seizures. She is currently undertaking a PhD examining the local and network properties of bottom-of-sulcus dysplasia, a type of focal cortical dysplasia which commonly causes drug-resistant epilepsy in children.

Dr Emily Sutherland is a general neurologist and epileptologist with interests in epilepsy, neurological disorders in women, pregnancy, stroke, and headaches including botulinum toxin for migraine.

Dr Denise Chan is a paediatric neurologist and epileptologist at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick. Dr Chan is a Conjoint Lecturer at the UNSW Sydney. Areas of interest include drug refractory epilepsy, epilepsy surgery, neuroimaging analysis, and Tuberous Sclerosis Complex.
